The Top 5 Best Disney Characters Skating Near You
Disney movies are great, but what if you could see the characters in real life? Outside of Disney World and Disneyland? Well, you can! Take your family to Disney on Ice, an ice show that brings all of the best Disney characters together for an event that weaves each Disney movie into one big, fun storyline. What are the absolute best Disney characters that make it into Disney on Ice’s range of shows? Our Top 5 list here:
5. Elsa from Frozen (In Disney on Ice’s Frozen, Dare to Dream, Dream Big, and Follow Your Heart shows)
Frozen quickly became one of the most popular Disney movies of the past decade when it was released in 2013. Frozen‘s strong female leads, Anna and Elsa, choose family over romance in a plot about growing on the inside before being ready to love on the outside. The story of sacrifice, struggle, and imperfection makes Frozen a huge hit. Elsa, the magical princess who reunites with her sister, is one of two main female characters in the film. Elsa will be on every single Disney On Ice show, as her chilly powers work well with ice skates.
4. Dory from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory (In Disney on Ice’s Follow Your Heart)
Dory, easily the most vibrant character from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory, has a place in Disney On Ice. The underwater characters from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory created the best Disney ocean storyline since The Little Mermaid. With her feel-good spirit and positivity, Dory is a beloved part of the Disney family.
3. Tiana from Princess and the Frog (In Disney on Ice’s Dream Big)
Tiana is one of the newer Disney princesses from the movie Princess and the Frog. Based in New Orleans, Princess and the Frog delves into Southern history, such as Mardi Gras, voodoo, and other New Orleans’ traditions, to produce a culturally-relative story. Tiana is also the first non-white Disney Princess since Aladdin‘s Jasmine. In addition, Tiana’s story revolves around her amazing work ethic and willpower. Therefore, she demonstrates a hardworking, feminist side to the “Disney princess persona” unlike the glitter and glamour of other Princess tales.
2. Moana from Moana (In Disney on Ice’s Dare to Dream)
Moana is the newest Disney Princess from the film Moana. Like Princess and the Frog, Moana follows a cultural story. However, this one is about Hawaiian natives and the deep-rooted history behind their ancient stories and traditions. Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the music writers for the film, and he wrote and starred in the hit musical Hamilton. Moana is the daughter of a tribal chief, and she sets sail to find demigod Maui to help save her people after a blight outbreak. Moana demonstrates another powerful, strong female lead in a Disney movie, and it’s exciting to see her now in a Disney on Ice show.
1. Olaf from Frozen (In Disney on Ice’s Follow Your Heart, Frozen and Dream Big shows)
Everybody’s favorite Disney character. Olaf, from Frozen, is in multiple Disney on Ice shows as the goofiest, most lovable snowman. One of Frozen‘s proudest songs besides “Let It Go” is “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” Olaf dismantles his snowball-body and puts it back together throughout the movie, as he struggles to remain frozen and away from heat that would melt him away. However, all he really craves is the warmth of summer. The best sidekick to Anna on her mission, Olaf brings nothing but laughter and joy to fans at a Disney on Ice show.
