With March Madness fast approaching Live Toast is piggybacking on the bracket trend to look at what else, the summer tour season!! We’ve pitted the top 16 performers going on tour (err likely going on tour, lets go Rolling Stones!) against each other in what will be a faceoff to see what artists you are most interested in seeing this summer. With Madonna on tour, the Rolling Stones celebrating their 50th anniversary and Babs herself hitting the road, we haven’t seen a summer concert season quite like this one in ages. Even the Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac are getting involved!
We’re counting on you to check in to our Facebook page every day and vote for who you would rather see live. Throughout March we we’ll be featuring a new matchup that pits one artist on tour this summer against another in a single-elimination tournament to decide who you are most excited to see.
As much as we tried, we couldn’t winnow down the top 16, and as the NCAA tournament now features four “play in” games, we decided to go that route as well. So before Live Toast’s “Concert Madness” proper kicks off, we need your help to decide on the full field of 16. So on these first two days, we’re asking you to vote on the four artists that will join the 12 artists already in the “big dance.”
Without further ado, here is the field for the Live Toast Concert Madness Tournament. To determine the seeding we relied on Google to tell us what artists get the most searches as a way to gauge a performer’s popularity. It might not be 100% fair, but then again neither is the NCAA Tournament!! (For concert fans that don’t follow sports, the seeding is a way to rank the teams from “best” to “worst” so that the better teams don’t face each other too early in the tournament).
# 1 seeds are Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay and Madonna
# 2 seeds are Radiohead, Iron Maiden, Barbra Streisand and Nickelback & Bush
# 3 seeds include the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen
And in the play in matchups for which you can vote starting at noon today, Jason Aldean takes on the Brothers of the Sun featuring Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw; Fleetwood Mac faces off against the Beach Boys; Roger Waters takes on Neil Diamond; and Il Divo takes on Barry Manilow. The play in matchups will run for two days, at the end of which we’ll announce the complete “Concert Madness” bracket. Then, each weekday we’ll feature a new matchup, and you can vote for who you would rather see in concert.
